Makeovers, who doesn't love them? I love interior makeovers myself and I like to look at before & after photos. I regularly see very cool makeovers on social media. But what if you're not a handy do-it-yourselfer like me? Is such an impressive makeover within reach? The answer to that is 'certainly!'. In this blog, I'll show you what impressive makeovers you can already achieve by grabbing the brush.

Painting an entire room in one colour

A while ago I already shared on my social media that I would start a new paint project in collaboration with Pure & Original. It would be something I had never done before. There were several responses with suggestions of what it would be, but the right answer was not among them. Apparently, the idea of painting the ceiling, walls, baseboards and door in the same colour is not very popular yet. I got my inspiration for this on the Instagram account of Pure & Original, where I saw a room completely in Polar Blue. When I saw it I was instantly hooked. This colour is one of the Selected by Deense Zomer colours. This couldn't be a coincidence!

I also knew immediately which room I was going to paint from head to toe in Polar Blue, the room of my teenage daughter. At that time she still had a jungle room and wanted a more chic and tougher room, preferably with black. I told her about my idea, which she was not immediately convinced of, but agreed anyway. Together we chose the colour palette of Polar Blue, white, black, grey and gold. With wood and velvet accents for extra warmth.

The result of the paint makeover

This is of course what you were waiting for: the before and after photos. The before photos were taken after we had already emptied the room quite a bit. A large part of the furniture was used in the bedroom of my youngest daughter, which I recently gave a makeover. In the past few months I have cleaned up a lot in the house and sold a lot. With the proceeds of this, my daughter has selected a number of new furniture and accessories. This resulted in a low-budget makeover with a great result!

The combination of Polar Blue with the other colours works very well. With the gallerywall I created more diversity in colour and prints, I did the same with the decoration of the bed.

Different types of paint, one colour

If you are not that good at painting, painting an entire room in one colour is perfect for you. You don't have to be so precise with the edges in the transition between the walls and the ceiling. This way everyone can paint, so in my opinion no one has the excuse not to dare.

To get a bit more contrast in the whole, I used three different types of paint. On the ceiling, which I painted twice, you can see the Classico chalk based paint with a velvety powdery and matte appearance. On the walls I first applied the WallPrim Pro in the colour Polar Blue. This is an indoor wall primer. For the second layer I used Licetto, the washable wall paint with a matte appearance. Finally, I first used the OmniPrim Pro in the colour Polar Blue for the skirting boards and the door. That is a fine primer for interior and exterior paints. I finished the skirting boards and the door with Traditional Paint High Gloss, a high gloss lacquer. This creates a chic look.
